Want to know what combat is like?
By Corporal Lawrence, C.
Well, I am still here in Iraq, and with regards to this war, I can say I have seen and done some amazing things.

  • Combat is like nothing else, there is no other feeling of terror and excitment all at once. The nervous energy, the fright both for your own safety and the fear to let your mates down give feelings that are hard to explain. There are a few that relish the (thrill) of combat, but most are just glad to survive once the shooting stops. No real combat veteran would choose war,but unlike some in this country, know that some times its inevitable and necessary. This is one of those times.

  • I was recently in Taiwan and was asked about the war. I shared with this person that I believe that the majority of Americans support our troops and the necessity to "stay the course and win the long term battle of good versus evil". Then I shared with her that I felt that most of the media in America was biased against the war and the choices to stay the course. That many of them do not realize that without the efforts underway right now by our troops, the media would not be able to have the freedom that that abuse at times due to their biased opinions. How long would they last in many of the countries if they printed and supported ideas against their governments?...not long before they would be put into prison or into a grave.
Keep the faith. Good will eventually win out over evil....it always has and always will until the end of time.
