MsUnderestimated: Tribute to the West Virginia Miners (VIDEO)

Thank you Michelle and Tina. You echoed my sentiments exactly. And I had another cry over this video. Were these jobs that nobody else would do? No. These guys were honest, hard-working, blue-collar American heroes, doing the work that it takes for this country to operate on a day-to-day basis.

    Many tears still shedding...

I don't think I've ever seen/heard such a moving tribute before. "Last Man Out" (the story of the Springhill, Nova Scotia, Mine disaster) takes me back to 1957 when I, as an 7 year old, attached myself to the radio (no TV) to listen to the live updates of that rescue. And I've been touched by and attentive to each one since, no matter where in the world it occurred. "Go Rest High On That Mountain" (written to commerate the death of Vince Gill's brother) has been a favourite since it was recorded. When played with the slide presentation of the sadness and hope captured in the pictures, my human condition has been rendered both mushy and firm at the same time. And this memorial for the 13 has, in my thinking, become the memorial for ALL miners who have given their lives.

    (just a personal comment from a "misty-eyed" Canadian)...thank you.
