Soldiers don't like to be called Marines and Vice versa. By the way the blue uniform he is wearing will replace the green uniform by 2011. Lot's of people get confused with the diffrent service uniforms for some reason.

Re: Tomb Of the Unknown Soldier (VIDEO)

"Marine Staff Sgt. Alfred Lanier, who is the Head Guard at the Tom of the Unknown Soldier."

Other than the fact that the Old Guard is a U.S. Army unit, not a U.S.M.C. unit (meaning SSgt Lanier is USA, not USMC), this is a very nice tribute to the men guarding the Unknowns, and to the Unknowns themselves, and by extension all active duty and veteran service people.

Re: Tomb Of the Unknown Soldier (VIDEO)

We owe our soldiers whatever they were told they would receive when they voluntarily joined the Armed Forces. They weren't drafted, remember. I find this frequent argument quite odd, considering re-enlistment rates are at record highs. So, not only are they not signing out out after their first or second terms, they're asking to stay and continue the fight. So, your question might better be answered by one of them. Why don't you go talk to a soldier, airman, or Marine? You might be surprised.

And SSgt. Lanier didn't look like he hated his job at all. I don't personally know any person who has as much dedication, resolve, committment, and self-discipline as does this man.

Re: Tomb Of the Unknown Soldier (VIDEO)

"Regardless of what some believe, this country IS worth both fighting and dying for."

Is it always worth fighting and dying whenever politicians say it is? Should we always stand mute and blind when Washington speaks? Don't we owe our soldiers a little more?

Re: Tomb Of the Unknown Soldier (VIDEO)

I'm sorry I guess I should have looked closer at the uniform he's Army not Marine, but it changes nothing said prior.

Re: Tomb Of the Unknown Soldier (VIDEO)

Murtha: Look what a real Marine sounds and looks like,He should shame you into silence, but you have no shame after all your a Demorat.

Re: Tomb Of the Unknown Soldier (VIDEO)

This w as a powerful interview. What a difference in the quality of character and stature between a soldier guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and, say, a John Murtha or John Kerry.
