Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, Ft. Hood Killer, a Disgruntled Muslim (VIDEO)
Like it or not Ms. Walters, Christmas is by and large a Christian holiday, observed and recognized by both civil holiday as well as a major component of the US population (includes citizen, permanent alien resident, and illegal immigrant as well).
If Mr/Mrs Bush had elected to blanderize their greeting, I am sure MS. Walters would have complained about how non sectarian it was, "was Mr. Bush afraid to vocalize his traditional religious feeling of good will and thankfulness?' would have been the question she raised. She took the time to trash ("bland") the artwork of the cover of the card (more needless sniping and complaining). Absolutely, I think Ms. Walters should ask to be removed from the list in future, and perhaps she should WORK on Tuesday, if expressions of religious /spiritual good wishes at the time of Christmas holiday troubles her so much. I am sure her artistic comments bring warmth and appreciation to the artist behind that picture of the White House. Gotta wonder if same card/same art/same message but signed by Mr. Clinton would be treated same way by Ms. Walters?
On behalf of many of my american citizens (and residents) and retired servicemen, I would gladly accept a CHRISTMAS CARD from the President and First Lady, and would under no circumstances feel a need to gripe about the spiritual content nor the choice of cover art. And if in future we elect a Baptist or a Mormon or a Muslim president, and they were to include my family in mailing list for a similarly spiritual/religious greeting card, I would WELCOME that too...
I would be delighted to see an apology from the Network for her poor behavior..but then again, there are only so many christmas miracles that can happen.
