If you guys are that outraged. Don't sign stupid petitions-get away from you cozy computer chair and ENLIST YOURSELF!
When's the last time YOU did anything for this country lameass?
For those veterans who want to get involved, you can sign my Appeal For Redress petition. (Two can play this game.)

I will give these folks the benefit of the doubt however it is sad that they let themselves be used by the left-wing media which is nakedly shilling for the Democratic Party.
Support the mission? What mission? It's over, Bush blew it. Wake up.
Please also explain "economic draft." You're a freakin' mental midget.
“Moral courage is the most valuable and usually the most absent characteristic in men.”-General George Patton
ACTUAL MILITARY VETERAN OPINION: When you raise your right hand and put on the boots...you surrender MANY of the rights and privileges of the civilian populace. One of them is the right to publicly criticize the Commander in Chief. Civil Dissent and voting/supporting candidates is acceptable, but never in uniform. Attacks on the ethics, intelligence, or motives of the President are NOT topics for discussion by his staff. AND That means members of the military.
I agree with several other posters here: no military organization is a democracy...we exist to PROTECT the democracy. Individual members do not get to chose their assignments or the mission. Leaders are followed, which is part of your oath of enlistment or commissioning.
My major gripe has also been previously mentioned by others... this is being played within the media as a HUGE movement of opposition. No statistical facts are presented or a balance offered to illustrate the Pro WAR, Pro PRESIDENT, Pro IRAQI Freedom SUPPORTIVE opinions of the great majority of the troops.
No mention of the statistic that desertions and AWOL events are actually LOWER Than historical averages?
I find it insulting and ridiculous when people claim that when they joined the military, either as active or reserve/guard, they had "no idea" they could be sent into war, or were "promised" by the recruiter that they would never go anyplace dangerous.... Good Golly Private Benjamin... you really thought we all got the condos and sailboats?
MAX (6, actual), Out.
Ms: Sorry, I am a vet. Vietnam area. MOS: Administration. Basic Training and AIT: Fort Dix, NJ. Assigned to: US Army Security Agency, Fort Devons, MA (now closed). Clearance: Top Secret with Cryptographic Access. Responsibilities: Courier. Missions: (secret). Still don't believe? It figures. And I really don't care.
Never heard of the 'economic draft?' Really? Read on:

Wow, you guys are way off in your viewpoints but sure good at name calling, lol!
First is your statement that "You do NOT have the right to speak out against the Commander in Chief in a time of war." This is not so, unless a statement presents a "clear and present danger" then an individual has the right to say it.
Second you stated "All I can say to these fricking wussies is STFU! There’s no crying in war!." In rebuttal to this, read the beginning of the first section. To serve in Iraq for two tours is honorable. In fact, for them to not support the war and yet not desert is even more honorable. I don't believe that names should be slung against individuals for simply saying that they don't agree with a war that has in mine and many others eyes simply stagnated into the next Vietnam, especially when they've done two tours of duty.
But sure, I believe you.
And YES, folks that join the NG.. go to same basic tng (if enlisted) programs as AD, and for last 12+ years...I cannot imagine a troop going through 16-36 weeks of some type of training (INFANTRY? ARMOR? CAV? ADA?) without being told repeatedly and directly that they are being trained for combat or combat support. ALL NG units are so designated. I will admit that some of these folks could have willfully deluded themselves. I was in Guard unit for about 2 yrs after AD ARMY for 8, and it was up front and direct, "be ready" and we trained that way.
